Out of nowhere places: The geography is uncertain — “out of nowhere places almost.” Places that don’t quite exist, on the edge of the known map. This is a recurring motif in Jack’s dreams: the walk beyond the map, the portal city, the shifting biome. He keeps dreaming about the edge of the known.
